  • John White (Lead of Hazelnut Community)

    Revd John White is the founder and leader of Hazelnut Community Bristol and the Hazelnut Network. An ordained pioneer minister in the Church of England, he is passionate about helping people reconnect with nature, build resilient communities, and imagine hopeful responses to the challenges of our time.

    John regularly speaks and trains on creation care, pioneering mission, and community building. He loves getting his hands dirty in the garden, sharing food around a table, and helping others grow communities where people and nature can thrive together.

  • Jo Chamberlain (Chair of Trustees)

    Jo Chamberlain is the Church of England’s National Environment Policy Officer, based in Sheffield. She is part of the Faith and Public Life, which serves the Church as it seeks to engage in the public square. Her role is also about supporting local churches and dioceses to live out their missional calling to care for creation. Jo previously worked for Christian Aid, and before that was a Speech and Language Therapist. This all adds up to being an advocate for climate justice with a passion for getting the communication right.

  • Ray Lei (Deputy Chair of trustees and Hazelnut Community International)

    Ray Lei, now living in the UK, was originally from China and lived in Hong Kong for more than 40 years. Ray’s an activist in environmental protection especially working on climate change issues with an international organisation and also advocating on creation care as a Christian.

  • Kit Connell

    Kit Connell is an Environment and Sustainability Manager at the Diocese of Bristol. He sits on the Environment Board for One City Bristol as well as the Bristol's Climate Change Committee. He wors at the intersection of climate action, biodiversity and community development.
